What is Micro-needling?
The SKINPEN® uses a sterile needle tip containing tiny micro-needles to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin. This stimulates the skin’s repair response to naturally produce collagen and elastin. Micro-channels created by this treatment allow for topical products and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to penetrate deeper into the layers of the skin, which dramatically enhances their effects. The SKINPEN® is the first-ever FDA Cleared Micro-needling device.
What does Micro-needling feel like?
Before treatment, a special topical numbing cream is applied. Most patients say that it feels similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin. There is no need for medication or anesthesia for micro-needling.
How Many Treatments will I need?
In most cases, a series of three to six treatments is recommended for the best results. Each treatment is done every four to six weeks. There are certain conditions which may require six to eight treatments, such as deep wrinkles, stretch marks, advanced dark spots, and severe acne scars.
How long does the procedure take?
Each treatment will range from 45-60 minutes.
What should I expect after my treatment?
Most Patients notice a “Glow” right after treatment. The area will show signs of redness and the skin will be flushed for about 12 hours, and up to 3 days. You may see mild swelling, tightness, and/or minor peeling. Side effects are temporary and typically resolve within 3 days. Healing time varies from person to person, and also depends upon the depth of treatment, skin type, and skin condition. Some patients may heal completely in 24 hours. Most patients see visible improvement in 2-4 weeks with continuing improvement for up to 6 months.
